Kenia Zwo

Kenia Zwo

Ruckzuck-Zahnluck.

And on it goes.

We did enjoy or stay in Germany, beside the temperatures rose up in direction of 40 dregrees. All our sozial contacts have been maintained and we did celebrate a wonderful wedding. Beside that, we organized our next stay at home, that’ll be around christmas.

At Tiwibeach we had one more week of relaxing hangout and preparation for heading on. The Twiga-Lodge with it’s beautiful campsite, graet people and their good restaurant really is a recommendable spot.

We moved on northwards via Kilifi to Malindi, an mainly italian influenced spot and that was how the pizza tasted.
The next dog-smuggeling took place at the Tsavo.East Nationalpark and we where lucky, it worked, otherwise we needed to drive back 150km dirt road and down to Mombasa, before the next option in direction Nairobi. But so we had a great Safaritrip for about 100km along the river. We felt like being all alone there.

Being guest in Nairobi

The next driving-day towards the Kenian capital finished, after 350km of thrilling overtakes, in the middle of the rush hour. Whenever you have to stop, or slow down in this country, you are offered something like nuts, fruits, grilled corn, or chilled drinks. But in Nairobi, the variety enlarges up to candys, towels and bedshets, MP3-player and cable connectors up to boardgames like Scrabble, or Monopoly. If you not make it to the supermarket, he simply comes to you.

It always is astonishing, where Katja knows some people.

Here, for example it is the doughtier of a famous german goldsmith, that is working at the UN Enviroment Program, living here together with her kenian husband and their son. They offer us a bit of insight of this country.

Our feeling of being threatened is omnipresent over here. There always is a ward and watchdogs around us and everyone has to tell a story about a holdup and robbery. No matter where you go, to supermarket or a simple parking lot you’ll be body-searched and the car is examined even beneath with some mirrors.

When we’ve been for a walk behind the house, we’ve seen some giant bamboos. Thick as well trained mans leg and three stories high. The eco-coffee planted around us, will not be harvested, because the costs for this, may well be over the price to get for it.

Our cooking-gas was about to run out and a hint brought us to the industrial estate, where we found Chemigas Ltd., Kituiroad, that easily did fill up our german bottles. Their neighbors, BOC that made a rel professionl impression on us, where not able to, despite my lage set of adapters. But they had some impressing artifacts of exploded gas bottles in their showroom.

On the way through the crowdy city, we witnessed a accident. A women was driven off her bike by a car driver. Obviously he did not give her the right words too and has been punched by the rastagirl two times hardly in the face. Roughtough around here.

„Out of Africa“ is common knowlege over here and we are on our way to the original places. There is an option to watch the Worldcup Finals there in the Ngong Hills at another UN Guy, that is engaged for the hominids. He has been in the most parts of Africa and has a lot of precious information for us.
