Australien

Australia

Red desert, ayers rock, land with kangaroos and Aborigines with boomerangs. Hot beaches and an Opera House. But what else is there to see?

In january and February of 2009 we went to find out. With this blog we want to show you how much else you can find – it gave us a thrill to be in this fascinating country.

We started our great trip across the huge island in a big and strong 4WD with a desent air coditioner. First of all we drove northerly of Perth for two hours to the small town Lancelin to some offroad testing.

On this first part of the journey we followed the coast of the enormous Indian Odean as far as the pretty stone dessert called the Pinacles near Cervantes. We choose to cross the large country via the Great Nullabor Plain. This huge uninhabited area is just above Australia’s Southern coastline between Pert and the Great Australian Bay. We travelled through this area and reached the Eyre Penisula.

Along the Barrier Highway we head north in direction Outback to the city Broken Hill. After another 600 km of tristesse, the country is changing an the first green hils appear. Up to a 100m altitude, the narrow road curves over the Great Dividing Range.

Through the Glod Coast Hinterland, we arrived at the Pacific and did a 8000km drive.
